The core facility of Shanghai Center for Systems Biomedicine(SCSB) is a key modern instrument sharing platform with a total investment of 130 million yuan. In order to achieve the goal of "resource sharing, expansion of opening up, efficient operation and high-quality service", the platform carries out the construction of relevant instruments. In addition to the introduction of foreign instruments and equipment, it also emphasizes independent innovation and development, functional support and integration, and strives to establish a distinctive and cutting-edge core technology platform. On this basis, it carries out the application and industrialization research of relevant products research.

As the most comprehensive characteristic multi omics platform within the scope of Shanghai Jiaotong University(SJTU), the core facility of SCSB has provided high-level and characteristic experimental technology services for the whole university. At present, the core facility has established the experimental technology platform with the characteristics such as functional genomics, proteomics, metabonomics, single cell analysis, high-throughput drug screening, protein chip, micro imaging, computational biology, chemical synthesis, pathology platform, as well as the sample library and basic equipments, with a total equipment size of 117 pieces and a total equipment value of more than 72 million yuan. The platform implements the responsibility professor accountability system, and each sub platform has a corresponding senior full-time professor being responsible, and has recruited 14 full-time personnel responsible for professional technical support, training and services. At the same time, the platform has established a complete equipment reservation management system, and more equipment information has been published on the reservation website, which further improves the efficiency and informatization level of the core facility services.
 

At present, more than 50 large-scale instruments and equipments are put into operation on the platform, and the total annual service hours of the equipment exceed 25000 hours. It has been providing personalized services such as experiment testing, data analysis, scientific research guidance for over 300 persons from a dozen colleges of the University (including SCSB, School of Agriculture and Biology, School of Pharmacy, School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, School of Biomedical Engineering, School of Life Sciences and Biotechnology, Bio-X Institutes, Shanghai Cancer Institute, School of Materials Science and Engineering, UM-SJTU Joint Institute, The School of Electronic Information and Electrical Engineering, and The School of Naval Architecture, Ocean and Civil Engineering). As a sub center of the SJTU instrumental analysis center, it has also cooperated well in third generations of sequencing services, with an annual external services of 3000 hours. At the same time, the core facility is naturally an important part of the Institute of Translational Medicine SJTU platform. At present, all of the schools such as Biology, Agriculture, Medicine, Pharmacy of SJTU has established a relatively complete basic teaching and experimental platform, which can be used as a feature supplement of these platforms, and will play an increasingly important role in the teaching and quality training of graduate and undergraduate students. In the future, the core facility of SCSB will be open to scientific research and industrial units at home and abroad, striving to provide advanced professional equipments and technical services for the technical development and personnel training in system biology, translational medicine and biomedical related fields.
